Former SSRC Program Director Beverlee Bruce passed away over the weekend of September 12, 2009. Dr. Bruce was a social anthropologist, development specialist, and educator with experience in Africa and the Caribbean going back more than 30 years. Those who knew her at the Council will miss her kindness and wisdom.

The Eurasia Program received a grant from the Department of State Title VIII Program to support a dissertation write-up fellowship program and an array of field-building activities. Applications for the Eurasia Dissertation Support Fellowship are due December 10, 2009.
