Possible Futures Forum Launched

Possible FuturesA collaborative effort to deepen our knowledge of current crises and future possibilities, Possible Futures is produced by the Social Science Research Council, in conjunction with an SSRC book series published by NYU Press. The project's digital forum will focus initially on providing critical analysis of the Occupy movement.

IDRF Fellow Jatin Dua contributes a Research Snapshot: Piracy and the Narrative of Recognition: The View from Somaliland. SSRC Fellows have been active around the Web: Damion Blake writes on "Democracy and the Emperor's New Clothes," Aaron Jakes on "Two Hands Clapping: The Double Logic of Counter-Revolution," and Michael Jerome Wolff has a blog on his research in Brazil.

A number of fellowship and grant deadlines are approaching: New Directions in the Study of Prayer Grants (December 1), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship (December 1), AAS-SSRC Dissertation Workshop Series (January 3), Drugs, Security and Democracy (DSD) Fellowship (January 20), and Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) Student Competition (February 1).

Several fellowship and grant programs have announced winners of recent competitions: Grants for Collaborative Research on Environment and Health in China, SSRC-IDRF Book Fellowship, and DPDF Research Fields and Faculty Research Directors.
